Worldly Screens

03india8-19-09_rect540I went to the Art Institute this weekend and got to see the current featured exhibit of Japanese folding screens.  They tell stories weaving scenes in and out of golden clouds and sea green willow tree branches, idealistic stories of bravery and beauty and unity.  

Then I found this Apartment Therapy post on gorgeous Indian screens that are carved out of stone and are showcased in the Taj Mahal. They let in patterns of light and air.

I can’t help but look in awe at the detail in these art decor. It makes me want to have a sweet townhouse to fill with worldly art. Someday…
